About the project

Proserpine Wind Farm welcomes the opportunity to work with residents and the community to address project concerns. You can submit questions here or attend our Community Meetings.

Proserpine Wind Farm is a proposed renewable energy development located near Proserpine in the Whitsunday Region of Queensland. Construction is expected to begin in 2027.

The Project would deliver 900MW of renewable wind energy to the national electricity grid and contribute to the Queensland Government’s renewable energy generation target of 70% by 2032.

Once fully operational, Proserpine Wind Farm will provide enough clean energy to power approximately 375,000 houses each year and prevent the emission of up to 2.2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year.

The Project site is located 50km south of Bowen, between the Proserpine State Forest in the east and Sonoma State Forest in the west.

The Project will employ around 250 people during construction and 20 maintenance and operational staff once fully operational. A focus of the Project will be to secure local labour and materials.

Prior to, during, and after construction, the Project will contribute to the community in a targeted and meaningful way via a Community Benefit Fund.

COMMUNITY BENEFIT FUND

A Community Benefit Fund is a pool of money set aside by Proserpine Wind Farm to support projects and initiatives in local communities near the project. Proserpine Wind Farm will establish a Community Benefit Fund for local projects.
